Sighs. Holidays are over in a day. And gosh, what have I accomplished? Track trainings, SL project, Math lessons and minimal entertainment. D: What I've left ... Undone homeworks, projects, ... what can be worse. The pressure's coming like ... ._.

waiting for the sun to fall~
Today was a really really fun day. Much more enjoyable than the other days.
Why aren't there girls like those from SCG in NUSH track team?!
And how can I be the next Kareen Abdul-Jabbar?

Track Team
Yea. So it came to my attention (again) that our track team really needs to improve on our competitiveness, since none of us is taking this CCA as a uncompetitive CCA. And I thought about it ...
How to improve NUSH Track TeamNeed of Talents
Although there's a need for talents in our team, but to emphasize, success cannot be achieved purely by talent; we need more effort than anything else to put the team onto the right track.
- Be Enthusiastic
The most needed than anything else. Needed for participation of trainings (attendance + performance), discipline (following coach's orders, training regimes), commitment (more committed to other CCA/ organization.) and participation of competition (Nationals, other Inter-school competitions).
- Have Confidence
The second most essential. If you've totally no confidence about yourself running, then forget about competing. It's one of the motivating forces when you're training; the belief in yourself is stronger than anything else.
- Start Early
Starting early allows an edge over those who starts late - the body will slowly get use to the trainings, thus being able to do tougher trainings earlier (if physical conditions allow)
- Stay Fit/Strong
The main area other competitive schools will win (either by more trainings/ gym). There's a need for more training sessions other than the usual Friday slot, and probably twice a week gym as well for further muscle building.

waiting for the sun to fall~
3rd week of the June holidays. Really wonder what I've really done for the past few weeks. All seems like ages ago ... (apparently no clear memories of them) What I can only feel clearly are aches. Lol. And I've not really done anything that will benefit me academically. I really really really hate my slackness.
Tomorrow is another training day. 3 times a week is uber cool. (although this is the first week I'm going training for 3 times) Seriously wonder how to train with the aches ... especially when we're gonna "pimp" tomorrow. Ahaha. Perhaps I need a high protein intake D:
Oh. Regarding my display picture (dp) for MSN. The main reason I changed it is because Mariel keep reminding me that I have not change it for ages. So I decided to change it(: My current dp is a photo of Kobe Bryant being "harassed" by Celtics players when he's near the basket.
Finally, Lakers is playing home! They've lost the last two games at away, but no worries, they will win at home! (Or I'm confident they will) Go Lakers! ^^.

P4 Math Carnival
NUSHS held a P4 Math Carnival - Mathematics Alive! from 29th to 30th May.
My job was Game Station Master, basically someone who takes care, and teaches the P4 kids how to play the games at my station. And my station is about Whitejack, some project which my group did for Probability. (I was
forced! obliged to join the carnival cos my project was
too 1337! playable rather than an analysis of a game.
At the start, teaching the P4 kids how to play was quite fun. Till you realised that you have to keep repeating the rules, again and again, to P4 kids of different attitudes. And when you talk, talk and talk, you realised that your throat gets rustier and rustier, till you don't feel like talking. To me it's like wasting 2 days of my time repeating and repeating myself ... =X.
But ... there were many fun stations too! HCI had many fun and challenging board games that really makes you think like mad. *Quarto!* Heh. And the best stuffs were still the free tea breaks and lunches, where you can get endless supplies of them, due to the excessive amounts available ... Seriously there was a great amount of food wasted for every tea break / lunch. D:

PSL Camp
Kept delaying this post for a while ... But I shall talk about the PSL Camp held at NUSH from 27th to 28th May.
27th May:Had SMO in the morning. Didn't know senior paper's difficulty is so far from junior; the paper was so difficult. But the junior paper would be rather easy since we had learnt most of the stuffs. I guess by next year we'll be able to answer more questions ... And I don't suppose I'll get into special round ... D:
Yay. After the SMO paper, only the PSLs were eating KFC at the canteen. Oh, there was a Mountain Dew reservoir in this plastic bag ... xD. (Sadly I didn't take a picture ... ._.) Then we went for a uber fail P4 Maths Carnival Briefing. =X Cos it screwed up the time of our camp events ...
First activity: Budget Allocation Workshop! Yea. Apparently the camp was filled with "workshops" and stuffs, but actually they are much fun than they sound to be! Basically budget workshop is about our dinner that day, and we're supposed to plan what we're gonna buy (and cook) for dinner, given a limited budget of $22. My group decided to make spaghetti! I'm happy that we managed to buy sufficient ingredients for dinner using the budget.(:
The cooking part was ... tough. We didn't expect to cook using solid fuels. And I didn't have much experience cooking outside the kitchen ... So I was barely of help, other than obtaining hot water from the water dispenser, allowing it to boil easier. But the speed of pure water boiling is ... really slow. And we have a high difficulty to cook the noodles ...
Night games was uber fun! We're supposed to find out who killed Eugene Chiong (obviously fake)! Given a list of suspect, and clues that can be obtained around the school, we're to deduced who's the murderer. The clues were nicely planned/ done and the atmosphere was great! Throughout the search you can hear random girls screaming ... xD. I can only say that the seniors have done a good job planning this event.
The seniors screened a movie during the night. It's "Pursuit of Happiness" by Will Smith. And it was ... super boring. It's like even worse than I Am Legend. Really left me a bad impression of his movies. D:
Night totally sucks. The air-con was so freaking cold that it's so hard to sleep. What made things worse was that Shahid took me sleeping bag! That left me with sleeping bag to sleep using ... TT_TT So I stayed up quite late trying to sleep in a sitting position. Thankfully Zikai shared with me his warm sleeping bag at the last 2 hours, so I managed to sleep a couple of hours ... Thanks! Thank Ivan too, who also shared with me for the first hour.
28th May:Had a morning exercise activity at the concourse as it began to drizzle. It was fun(!) and quite vigourous as well ... Many of us were sweating early in the morning ... ._. Ate breakfast after that.
The Safety Workshop was fun (too)! Each group was supposed to act out a skid which contains five safety rules that we should observe from our given topic (2+2 day, Night Games, Ice-breaking games etc.) The video made by the seniors was uber pro!
*Skips proposal part* After lunching, there was this Longest Domino chain Game. We're supposed to use erasers to make a Domino chain which draws out a symbol that can represent the PSL board. We spent like loads of time and effort doing this; many accidents occurred and caused us to rebuild, rebuild and rebuild. But the final masterpiece was decent! *For the time being refer to gerlynn's blog post for the picture!*
Ate dinner and went home shortly after the debriefing. So tired! D:
*This post is posted on 2nd June, contrary to the Post date, which shows the day of the event

SIMC Closing Ceremony
That's it. The current backstage crew is sick and tired of everything regarding backstage. Well, doing backstage means be the first (few) to reach for any rehearsals and performances, and the last to leave after any performances. We have to cover other duties which include moving of equipments from other places, settle seating arrangement, cleaning up the auditorium and more.
The main reason why I don't like backstage now is because, we contribute one way or another for the performances that the audience can get to see
while relaxing and enjoying the performance. Yet, we receive one of the least recognition regarding the success of any event. Worst, there are much better (in terms of
rewards - backstage crew are not provided with free lunch most of the time,
recognition - who will bother to thank people who help out behind the scenes, than people who help you directly and
enjoyment - during the execution, everything is serious work) jobs like the SLOs for SIMC, where we can get to communicate with the participants, and join in the activities they go through during the event. Ushers also do not require much trainings and rehearsals, and the 'working hour' is much shorter.
Although Dr Wong contributed a couple of jokes to make backstage much interesting, backstage is seriously getting boring, tiring and pressurizing. Throughout so many rehearsals, the programmes slowly get uninteresting. And when there's seriously nothing to do, e.g. when the GOH is speaking, and the backstage is total darkness, without any comfy seats, it's so boring till you can sleep. The endless rehearsals, changing of plans, movement of equipments and early reporting time really drains one's vigour and energy. When the teachers want a change of plans, when there's no cooperation between the performing crew and us, when something screws up, the pressure just build up, and makes you feel like giving up the whole idea.
Oh forget it. I have already gotten over the issue over Ritsumeikan Junior and Senior High School leaving at 5am today. Don't try to make me feel sad 'cos you'll be disappointed. Regarding someone with the name of Anna Dai (make-up for the lose!), and all other participants of SIMC, bye and see you. I won't feel anything anymore.
